I didn’t quite understand her logic at the time, but now that I have 2 little guys who call me “Grammy”, I totally get it! I sure wish my Mom was still here to tell her.
Her explanation was that when you are busy being a Mom, the normal chores of cooking, housekeeping, feeding, disciplining and caring for your children take precedence. You play with your children, but there are so many other demands on your time. I understood that, as I was living it at the time, as well as juggling a full-time career.
She went on to say that when you become a Grandma, all of that changes. When you spend time with your grandchildren, you are there to only to enjoy them and play with them 100% of the time without those other distractions. They get your undivided attention and you all just get to have FUN!!!! That is your reward. Plain and simple.
So now that I have become a Grammy, her words come full circle & I agree whole-heartedly. I love, cherish and enjoy every moment I spend with my twin Grandsons and we have so much fun.
I only wish my Mom was still here to enjoy the boys with me.
Happy Mothers’ Day
